scholarship

Post by Melanie » Wed Apr 02, 2003 8:20 pm

(by request of Jill)
I won a Governor's scholarship for being in the top 5% of California's public high school standardized tests. They put $1,000 in an account for use in "pursuing a degree", which basically means college books, room and board, tuition, etc.
So yeah..I suppose that is pretty cool.

other updates since I don't post much:
midterms next week for art and psych..NOT fun
psych paper..fun but LOTS of work
deca..still in process of trying out, but made first cut
still together with pipath, though we are both extremely busy

anything else?? i don't know..but i better get back to work!!

Melanie, Im real proud of you. I think that is a great accomplishment. All your hard work has paid off. Im going to miss seeing you over spring break. This summer I hope to visit you at your pool side. Jaclyn wants to get her certification for scuba. She will need a crash course. Good luck next week with all your papers and test.

Great Job Melanie! Can you use it to "pursue" Pipath at UCB? It is kinda like pursuing a degree and is somewhat college related.

Congratulations Melanie!!!
Get a head start on the rest of them. Do you have any colleges in mind yet. If you need any advice I got tons of letters and brochures from a lot of different schools, Notre Dame, Penn State, Oregon, SUU!!!!!, Chico State. I am sure you won't have any problems and you probably have your eyes on Yale, Harvard, Stanford, BYU, Princeston, U of Penn, ect. But let me know if you want me to send you anything. Or you could be cool and come to SUU like your brother should. Anyway good job and take care.

psychology midterm moved to after spring break
YAY no more nervous breakdown!!!!

thanks a lot :)

I will probably not be "pursuing pipath"
by the time I start college, he will almost be going to masters program, so he may not be at Cal...I don't want to go there though, too big. It is an option, but I am currently leaning towards smaller schools. I don't have any dream schools at the moment..looking at Occidental..just kinda browsing for now. If you know of any good ones I would love to hear about them. I want to get as much info as I can over the next year or so before I start applying. Still not entirely sure if I want to stay in CA or go elsewhere..I would love to go somewhere else, but don't know if I will be ready at 16 to be quite that independent.

You'll be fine..

You'll be fine. Hey it's not going to be easy at first but I am sure you'll pick up on things quick and learn fast. I have the perfect school in mind for you if you like small schools and if your concerned about independence. SUU IS FOR YOU!!! check out the web site... http://www.suu.edu. It has a student teacher ratio of like 15 to one which is better than in highschool and who wouldn't like that. Plus I'll get you into all the sporting events they are free for me they came with the full ride package I recieved. And you can ski on the weekends. Also you could probably get a full ride off academics. They have an SUU scholarship that requires a 3.8 GPA and I think a 25 or higher on the ACT which should be no problem for you. It's called the sanchuary scholarship and it's automatic if you meet those requirements, I think that scholarship alone would knock off more than half your tuition which is only going to be 12,000 a year for out of state residents, which Scott could probably take care of for you, and then it would be less money a year. Check it out and get back to me.

If you pick SUU...

Post by Scott » Fri Apr 04, 2003 6:56 pm

If you pick SUU you would be one of the smartest ones there. If you do decide to go, plan ahead and get "residency" like Justin was suppose to do, then it will only cost your parents $7,000 including dorm!

And I bet Jimmy could fix you up with all his friends so your dating life would be GREAT! .... and in turn you could fix Matt up with all your freinds :D

Break up!

Post by Scott » Fri Apr 04, 2003 8:06 pm

Who said anything about a break up?

Here in Utah they allow polygamy, so you can have as many boyfriends as you want!

When in Rome ....
