Should Webcam Live Mode Be Restricted

Post by Scott » Thu Dec 11, 2003 6:43 pm

Many users have requested that the maximum update rate for the cameras be increased, and many have asked for it to be decreased. Those wishing it decreased are frustrated when hundreds of users start asking for 1 frame per second and it slows to a crawl. Those wishing it increased want to be able to watch the chair lifts move, and the skiers go down the mountain.

Please post comments here and respond to the survey.

Don't forget that registered users are the only ones that have access to live mode.

Also registered users can access time lapse mode to see 15 minute interval snap shots taken all day and played in a "fast" motion player.

How would I do that

Post by Scott » Fri Dec 12, 2003 4:42 pm

Aaron, how would I upload the live camera feeds where they are serving the images real time? I understand that I need to upload the timelapse to a new server at some point but I am not sure how to do what you said. If I can, I will get that server that Justin told me about, which does not seem to limit bandwidth etc.
Let me know.

If the traffic is effecting the frame speed then it would make sence to slow the frames to accomodate the load of people accessing the cameras. Is there some way of tieing the volume users to the frame per second display?
see Yah..
