I have NOT seen any problems with webcams

Post by Scott » Thu Dec 30, 2004 9:13 pm

I just checked the ping monitor, and the webcams have been up over 99.9% of the time. I am not sure what problem is being reported. The Duck Creek cam is down per it's owner as reported in September. The St. George webcam is not under our control and is up when they decide it is up. All the Kraftfam webcams, at all levels of access have been up.

We need more specifics as to what the problem is. Also, if anyone else is having problems please post the details.

Remember, if you are NOT registered you don't get as many cams as those that are registered. Also Kraft Family friends see different cams than registered users as does the Kraft Family relatives.

Sometimes I will see the webcam on the BH webpage and it will be split in half with the other view of giant steps.... maybe from the lower cam. It looks now as if you have changed the camera from the cabin(?) to the lower driveway cam... I might be trippin but check it out... I use them alot and I have them actively updating every minute so when I am not up there I can still see how many people are... hehe :bluedance

Split view

Post by Scott » Mon Jan 10, 2005 5:34 am

The split view you see is due to the fact that the system is sensing that you are "parking" on the webcams which is NOT allowed. When you keep your browser parked on a webcam and updating for too long, the system will limit your bandwidth for a period of 30 to 90 days and then automatically give you another chance.

I would suggest you do NOT stay parked on a webcam for too long.

Usually you will just get a much slower response, or "shadow" updates which are pseudo live images rather than truely live images rather than the split view.

Membership registration and Webcam access

Post by Scott » Mon Jan 10, 2005 5:39 am

Becoming a registered member will give you access to features such as live updates, and time lapse however it will NOT allow you to see more cameras. A regular registered member can only see public webcams. There are many webcams, and thier use is limited to groups that need them such as "Friends", "Family", etc.

Most webcams are hidden so you will not even know they exisit. However, if there is one that does show up in the channel guide that you feel you need access to it, you can e-mail the webmaster with your reason(s) and request and account upgrade.
