XM radio to raise monthly rates
As of April 2, 2005 XM radio will be raising thier prices. If you want to lock in your current price you can still sign up for a multi year deal. I plan on signing up for a 2 year agreement, which will save me about 31% off the monthly rate. For more info check out http://www.xmradio.com
Anyone who listens to music frequently should highly consider this service. I love it and for the cost per month which will now include online access, so you can hear XM anywhere with the internet... its just an unbeatable service.

After the price increase the two companies will have the same monthly fee if you pay per month. I am signing up for a 2 year plan with XM at 8.96 a month. The Sound quality of XM was said to be slightly higher, but probably not a real noticable difference. I do not know if you get Online radio with sirius, but with XM you will noe get a user name and password to get XM online free with your monthly subscription. They use different distrobution technology. XM has two main satallites, and then has terrestial repeaters in major cities. Sirius has 8 satalites and no repeaters. For XM your supposed to aim south east, sirius is northeast, for our southern utah location. East being the more primary of the two directions in both cases. XM has more music stations, and more weather stations. Sirius has more talk, comedy, sports.
Note: the prices are wrong, look only at the content. Also keep in mind that XM has lots of other specialty stations sirius does not have such as MTV, VH1, CNN, MSNBC, Discovery, C-span, BBC, Fox News, ect.

Limited usage
I really only need to use XM for a month or two when I am at the beach. Can the service be started and stopped or put on hold?

Family Plan
Why let the XM experience end when you get out of the car? Add up to four additional XM Radios to your account for only $6.99/month per radio for basic service.

I would get the skyfi 2 reciever, and the boom box seperatly... that way you can alwys use the home kit or car kit if you want to, and then use it on the beach in the boom box setup. The 6.99 is for additional recievers, like if i added you to my plan, thats how much additional it would be per month. I dont know what happened, but all the prices on recievers went up... i got my skyfi2 for just over 70 bucks, and now there at 100.
